Hastelloy B-3 is a nickel-molybdenum alloy with outstanding resistance to pitting, corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking plus, thermal stability grander to that of alloy B-2. Hastelloy Alloy B3 Pipe Fittings offer excellent resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking. All typical welding procedures can be utilized with Hastelloy B3 Butt Weld Fittings; however, oxyacetylene and submerged arc welding processes are not suggested when the manufactured item is to be used in corrosive environments. Hastelloy B3 elbow pipe fittings are utilized in a variety of chemical process industry (CPI) applications, particularly in the design of reaction vessels for pure, reducing acid service.

Alloy B-3 also endures sulfuric, acetic, formic and phosphoric acids, and other non-oxidizing media. Moreover, this nickel alloy has excellent resistance to hydrochloric acid at all absorptions and temperatures. Hastelloy B-3 buttweld Fittings have low disintegration impenetrability to oxidizing conditions; thus, they are not recommended for use in oxidizing media or in the presence of ferric or cupric salts since they may cause rapid and inconvenient usage dissatisfaction.
